This print is inspired by a sign advertising a road-side snack bar on the A21. As snack bars provide food for drivers, so road verges provide the same for wild things. In this case cuckooflower (also known as lady’s smock and, St Anne’s lace) is the food plant for the orange tip butterfly - meaning the butterfly seeks it out and almost exclusively lays its eggs on this plant. The caterpillars are adapted to it.
